Vidushi Rana praises India‑Nepal ties as relief arrives post‑earthquake

KATHMANDU, 27 August – In an interview with a local news service, MP Vidushi Rana lauded the long‑standing friendship between Nepal and India following a massive flood that caused widespread damage. She quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reassurance that New Delhi would extend “all possible help” to the affected regions.

Rana recounted how relief packages have already reached the hardest‑hit districts, describing the assistance as “timely” and “life‑saving”. She said she spent the night thinking about families who have lost children and loved ones, and expressed hope that positive news will emerge soon.

Calling the disaster one of Nepal’s gravest since the 2015 earthquake, the parliamentarian emphasized that the government’s top priority is rescue operations. She confirmed that Parliament has mobilized resources and that coordination with Indian teams is smooth.

The MP highlighted the 1,751 km open border as more than a line on a map; it is a conduit for people, traditions, and commerce. She noted that marriages across the border, shared cuisine, and cultural festivals reinforce a “bread‑and‑butter” relationship that predates modern diplomacy.

According to Rana, the current crisis is an occasion for both nations to deepen cooperation. She pointed out that a substantial portion of Nepal’s imports come from India, making the partnership economically vital as well as humanitarian.
