Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India at the end of August, amidst the backdrop of a potential trade war between the US and India. This information was conveyed by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval during a meeting with Russian Security Council chief Sergei Shoigu in Moscow. Doval’s visit aims to strengthen strategic ties between the two nations.
Putin’s visit marks his return to India after four years. His last visit was in December 2021, when the 21st India-Russia annual summit took place in Delhi. Several agreements were signed between India and Russia during that summit. This upcoming visit will be Putin’s first to India since the start of the Ukraine war in February 2022.
