Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington, D.C., on the afternoon of 23 September aboard a dedicated aircraft, commencing a state visit after President Donald Trump's extended a personal invitation.

The presidential entourage was received on the tarmac by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, who offered a cordial greeting and highlighted the historic nature of the meeting.

The welcome ceremony included a guard of honor positioned on either side of a red carpet, schoolchildren offering floral bouquets, a joint performance of the Chinese and U.S. anthems by a military band, a 21-gun salute, and an overhead demonstration by fighter jets.

In a formally drafted speech, President Xi sent the Chinese nation's sincere regards to the American public, underscoring the deep roots of bilateral friendship and the mutual benefits of partnership.
