Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s appearance at the Oval Office on Monday drew attention due to his change in attire. Opting for a black jacket and dark collared shirt, a departure from his usual olive green military-style T-shirt, he seemed to be responding to prior criticism. This change followed remarks made during a February visit, where his outfit was mocked. Since the 2022 Russian invasion, Zelenskyy has frequently worn military-style clothing as a symbol of solidarity. This time, while still maintaining a formal appearance, his outfit showcased better coordination and polish, although he chose not to wear a tie. During the meeting, a reporter complimented his suit, to which Zelenskyy responded, acknowledging the reporter’s previous critique of his dress. The reporter offered an apology for the past criticism, praising Zelenskyy’s appearance. Zelenskyy was also asked about holding elections in Ukraine after a potential peace deal, to which he replied that he was open to the idea, provided that elections could be conducted in safe conditions.
