In Chhattisgarh, the time period for purchase of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi crops on support price has now been extended till February 15, 2022. Earlier, the date for the purchase of these crops was till January 31. It is worth noting that this important decision has been taken in the interest of farmers as a result of delay in harvesting due to rains in different areas of the state. In order to promote the cultivation of crops, the government of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has decided to make purchases on support price from this year. Under this, under this procurement campaign, which will run from December 1, 2021 to February 15, 2022, the support price of Kodo and Kutki from forest dwellers-farmers has been fixed at Rs 30 per kg and for Ragi at Rs 33.77 per kg. It is noteworthy that during the last years, due to non-availability of MSP for these millet crops, the production of millet crops like Kodo, Kutki and Ragi was gradually decreasing. Considering these circumstances, it has been decided by the state government to purchase Kodo, Kutki and Ragi from this year through Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association. Procurement of kutki and ragi on support price is going on in a systematic manner. In this regard, Principal Secretary Forest and Climate Change Shri Manoj Pingua informed that at present the work of their purchase is being done through all the Primary Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Societies of the State. Managing Director State Minor Forest Produce Association Shri Sanjay Shukla informed that till now 07 thousand 799 quintals of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi worth about Rs. 2.5 crore have been purchased in the state. These include 05 thousand 990 quintals of Kodo, 01 thousand 112 quintals of kutki and 697 quintals of ragi. Like this:Like Loading… Continue Reading
