Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojna organized at Antagarh in Kanker district, 297 couples tied the knot in the chief hospitality of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia. Blessings to the couple for a happy life, Smt. Bhendia said that the implementation of the scheme has brought relief to the weaker sections and has stopped wasteful expenditure. People of all societies and classes are participating in mass marriages. He said that earlier a provision of Rs 15,000 was made under this scheme, which has been increased to Rs 25,000 by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. If both the bride and groom are disabled, they are given assistance of one lakh rupees under the disabled marriage scheme. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for this provision. Giving her blessings to the newly married couple, Mrs. Bhendia wished them a bright future. Presiding over the program, Antagarh MLA and member of the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development Authority, Mr. Anup Nag said that the Chhattisgarh government is organizing a group marriage under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Yojna, in which the daughters are married by following customs and traditions. Mass marriages are being performed. It is a matter of pride for this region to organize this program in Antagarh. He said that every parent is worried about the marriage of their child as soon as they become an adult. The poor families have got freedom from this worry due to the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana organized by the Chhattisgarh government, wasteful expenditure has also been stopped due to the implementation of this scheme. Following the tradition, the marriage of the girl child is being performed with great pomp. Shri Nag gave his best wishes and blessings to the newlyweds for their happy life. While addressing the program, member of Planning Commission, Mrs. Kantibai Nag said that many programs are being run by the Government of Chhattisgarh for the economic empowerment of women. Through self-help groups, they are being linked to economic activities, which has changed their standard of living. Additional Collector Surendra Kumar Vaidya told in his speech that under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Yojna, 297 couples are being married in the program organized in Antagarh. He said that under this scheme, material worth Rs 19 thousand and one thousand five hundred rupees incentive and transportation amount is provided to the couples by the government and Rs 04 thousand 05 hundred is spent in the event.
