An exhibition and lecture program was organized by the Department of Culture and Archeology on World Heritage Day today. In the program organized at Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum Complex, Raipur, a map and photo exhibition was organized on the known rock-art heritage from 13 districts of Chhattisgarh. A lecture program on conservation of heritage was also organized. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Secretary, Department of Culture Shri Anbalagan P. and Padmashree Shri A.K. Sharma, D.S. B. Ova Bhopal and Mr. Rahul Tiwari did it. Padmashree Mr. A.K. Sharma said on the role of people in the conservation of heritage that the heritage is more threatened by human factors than by natural factors. People damage the heritage due to lack of awareness or ignorance. This trend should be avoided. Everyone should cooperate for the protection and cleanliness of the heritage. Special guest and former Joint Director General in Archaeological Survey of India Shri DSP. Ota elaborated on the role of the environment in protecting the heritage from natural degradation. He said that to save the natural and cultural heritage, there is a need to save the existing folk tradition including its surrounding environment and landscape. The Assistant Superintending Archaeological Engineer of the Archaeological Survey of India, Raipur Division, Shri Rahul Tiwari gave his views about the structural maintenance and conservation techniques and methods of the built heritage. Vote of thanks to the in-charge collector Dr. P.C. Sarakh did it. On this occasion Prof. s. Ale. coca. D. Arun Kumar, Shri Ashok Tiwari, Shri Rahul Kumar Singh along with departmental officers-employees and students and researchers of Archaeological and Anthropological School of Pt.
