BJP national vice-president and former chief minister Raman Singh said on Sunday that no Muslim community member would be affected by the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He stated that opposition parties were instigating violence on the issue to extract political mileage.
“The Citizenship Amendment Act will provide citizenship to six minority communities of the three Muslim-majority Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who will travel to India as refugees’’ said Singh who was chief minister of the state for 15 years.
On comment of ‘monkey gets razor’ remark by Congress leaders on Saturday at a rally in Delhi, Singh while addressing media persons said “everyone knows who got the razor’.
On being asked to comment about remark of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel that he would not implement CAA in Chhattisgarh, Singh said, “in a federal system any state government can’t refuse to implement any Act enacted by the central government’’.
He also slammed the state government for imposing a ban on federal investigating agencies such as NIA and CBI and described it `against the spirit of the centre-state relationship’.
