Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Shri Ajay Kumar Shukla informed that so far 71,88,321 publicity material has been removed from public and private places to ensure the model code of conduct applicable across the state in the context of General Elections-2022. Out of which 53,92,891 publicity materials have been removed from public places and 17,95,430 from private places. He said that till now action has been taken in 17,33,552 of 3,82,084 posters of wall writing, 23,98,510 banners and 8,78,745 other cases from public places. Similarly, action was taken in 5,09,640 of 7,99,971 banners and 3,16,904 of 1,68,915 posters of wall writing from private places. The Chief Electoral Officer said that the model code of conduct has been effectively implemented in the state for free, fair, peaceful, inclusive and safe voting. In this context, action is being taken by the Police, Income Tax, Excise, Narcotics and other departments. He said that so far 8,03,997 licensed weapons have been deposited by the police department. So far 566 licenses have been confiscated. Similarly, 29,10,985 people have been banned while taking preventive action under CRPC. He said that so far 576 FIRs have been registered under various sections for violation of Model Code of Conduct, out of which 17 FIRs have been registered under different sections today. Apart from this, 7001 arms, 7401 cartridges, 214 explosives and 232 bombs have been recovered by the police department so far. 124 factories manufacturing illegal weapons were seized by the police department. The Chief Electoral Officer said that so far 8,48,851 liters of liquor worth more than Rs 21.65 crore have been seized by the Excise and Police Department. Apart from this, cash of more than Rs 24.28 crore has been recovered so far in the action of Police Department and Income Tax Department, out of which cash of about Rs 2.06 crore has been recovered today. Similarly, 7559 kg drugs worth Rs 26.59 crore have been seized so far by the Narcotics and Police Department, out of which 68.77 kg drugs worth more than Rs 34.91 lakh were seized today.
