In the Kharif season this year, different types of crops will be sown in 48 lakh 20 thousand hectares in the state, which is about 55 thousand hectares more than the last Kharif season 2021. The most remarkable thing in the sowing target of Kharif season 2022 is that the area under paddy has been reduced by 5 lakh 39 thousand hectares as compared to the last Kharif season. While the area of maize has been increased by about one lakh 9 thousand hectares and about 63 thousand hectares in the area of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. Along with reducing the area under paddy, the Agriculture Department has set a target of increasing the area under sowing of pulses-oilseeds and other crops by about three and a half lakh hectares as compared to last year. Kharif crops were sown in 47 thousand 65 thousand 190 hectares. In the Kharif season 2022, this target has been increased to 48 lakh 20 thousand hectares by about 55 thousand hectares. In the last Kharif season, paddy was sown in 38 lakh 99 thousand 340 hectares in the state, in the Kharif season 2022 this target has been reduced to 33 lakh 60 thousand 500 hectares. That is, the target is to bring reduction in paddy area by 5 lakh 39 thousand hectares. In the Kharif season 2022, maize will be sown in 3 lakh 14 thousand hectares, whereas last year maize has been planted in 2 lakh 5 thousand hectares in the state. The area under Kodo Kutki and Ragi has also been increased from 63 thousand hectare to one lakh 47 thousand hectare. In this way, the area under coarse cereals in the state has also been increased from 2 lakh 88 thousand hectare to 4 lakh 60 thousand hectare. In 2 lakh 77 thousand hectares, pulse crops were cultivated. Similarly, while increasing the area of oilseed crops by one lakh, their area has been increased to two lakh 67 thousand 700 hectares. In Kharif 2021, oilseed crops were planted in one lakh 66 thousand 670 hectares in the state, the area under other Kharif crops has been increased by about 1.5 lakh hectares. In Kharif 2022, the target is to plant other Kharif crops in two lakh 83 thousand hectares, whereas in the last Kharif season their sown area was one lakh 33 thousand hectares.
