The farmer-friendly policies of the Chhattisgarh government have also started getting the benefit of the tenant farmers of the forest land. The farmers and forest dwellers who cultivate paddy on leased land under forest area are also selling their paddy easily in societies and paddy procurement centers at support price. Mr. Tekchand, a farmer of Baiga tribe of Dholpitta border village of Rajnandgaon district, sold paddy grown on leased land at Salhewara center today. Farmer Shri Tekchand has got five acres of land on lease. Dholpitta village is a Baiga tribe dominated village situated close to the border of Madhya Pradesh. This village is situated on the forested Tekri on the banks of the road going from Narmada to Salhewara. Came in for a surprise check-up. During this, the farmer of Baiga tribe, Mr. Tekchand also reached there to sell paddy. Secretary Dr. Prasanna discussed with the farmers who came to sell paddy in the society including farmer Mr. Tekchand. Farmer Mr. Tekchand expressed his happiness and thanked the administration for getting the facility to sell forest land and paddy on lease by the government. He told that he will sell 40 quintals of paddy. Earlier, Secretary Dr. Prasanna inspected the paddy procurement center of Amlipara located in Khairagarh block. He discussed with the farmers there and inquired about the facilities being provided to them. He observed the quality of paddy here and the moisture content of the paddy with the help of a moisture meter. He said that keeping in view the interest of the farmers, the price of gunny bags has been increased from Rs 18 to Rs 25 by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. He directed to maintain the availability of gunny bags in the paddy procurement centers. He took information from the farmers regarding the giving of tokens by the committees and the correct size and weight of the thorn-distribution and the coaches and middlemen. The farmers told that there is no problem in selling the paddy. Village wise tokens are being cut and accordingly paddy is being procured. 75 percent gunny bags are being provided by the paddy procurement center and 25 percent are being brought by the farmers themselves. Paddy of eligible farmers is being bought at the center. Secretary Dr. Prasanna R inquired from the farmers about the payment of last year’s paddy amount. The farmers told that the amount for the sale of paddy has been received. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, three installments have been received.
