After the formation of the new government in Chhattisgarh, many innovations are taking place in the agriculture sector. At the same time, Chhattisgarh is now moving rapidly towards organic farming. Instead of chemical fertilizers, the farmers of the state are using vermicompost and super compost being prepared in the villages of the villages to increase the yield of the crop. Farmers are getting many benefits from this. On one hand the fertility of the land is increasing, on the other hand the cost of agriculture is also decreasing. The use of organic manure has also increased the quality of the crop. At the same time, the ill-effects of using chemical fertilizers are also being avoided. It is worth mentioning that in Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the state government has started the Godhan Nyay Yojana in continuation of the Nyay Yojana. Under this scheme, the state government is buying cow dung through Gauthans. Vermicompost and super compost are being made from the dung collected in Gauthans. This vermi compost is being made available to the farmers at the cost of Rs 10 per kg and super compost at Rs 8 per kg. Farmers are getting motivated for organic farming due to availability of organic fertilizers at affordable prices in the villages. Kirit Ram Patel, a farmer of village Anjorpali in Sakti block of Janjgir-Champa district, is also one of those farmers. Farmer Mr. Kirit Ram has taken additional benefit of Rs. 62,400 by planting urad in Rabi crop after harvesting paddy in Kharif last year. Farmer Mr. Kirit Ram told that he had participated in the training program organized by Agriculture Department. Information about innovation was given by the department by visiting from time to time. He told that earlier he used to cultivate only paddy. After the cultivation of paddy, the field was not used. The department was motivated for pulse area expansion and organic farming crop change. Reduced expenditure, increased production – Farmer Mr. Kirit Ram told that under the guidance of Agriculture Department, he cultivated urad as a Rabi crop, in which vermicompost was used at the rate of 90 kg per hectare. The use of vermicompost increased production. The use of organic manure also resulted in savings in the cost of purchase of seeds, plant protection medicine and other fertilizers.
